The Department of Education at Domkal Girls' College in Domkal, Murshidabad, commenced its academic journey on July 7, 2011, with the affiliation of the B.A. (General) program under the University of Kalyani. Initially, Education was offered as a general subject, but the introduction of Education as an honors subject in 2014 marked a significant step forward. With an initial enrollment of 30 students, the department experienced a steady increase in student numbers over the years. Since its inception, the department has maintained a rich and illustrious history, marked by continuous growth and academic excellence. In response to the growing demand, the department expanded its capacity, adding 40 seats on July 10, 2015 (IC/14/412/2015), followed by a further 70 seats on August 19, 2021 (IC/58/(DGC)/Seat increment/2021), reflecting its commitment to accommodating more students and catering to their educational needs. Following the completion of the three-year degree program, the department transitioned to the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) in the academic session of 2018-2019. This system offers students the flexibility to choose subjects from a range of prescribed courses, including core, elective, skill enhancement courses. This upgrade aims to provide students with a well-rounded education, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills for their future endeavors. As of 2019, the department is staffed by three permanent Assistant Professors and three SACT Teachers, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence and student support. Students and teachers alike actively participate in various extra-curricular activities, enriching the college experience and contributing to the overall development of the students. The student body predominantly consists of individuals from socio-economically backward minority families, many of whom are engaged in agriculture for their livelihoods. Despite facing challenges, these families prioritize education, recognizing its importance in shaping their future. Since most students come from rural areas, lectures are delivered in a bilingual mode to accommodate their needs, with Bengali being the preferred language over English, ensuring effective communication and comprehension among students and faculty members Looking ahead, the department is poised for further growth, with plans to increase its intake capacity for undergraduate courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) from the academic session of 2023-24, aiming to accommodate 550 students and continuing its mission of providing quality education and empowering students to achieve their academic and professional aspirations. Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
